Note for Parents & Teachers
This follows the NCERT Class 4 chapter "Equal Groups". In 12 x 3 = 36, 12 is the number of groups (multiplier), 3 is the group size and 36 is the product. To multiply 18 x 4, split 18 into 10 + 8 and add 40 + 32. To divide 58 by 3, take away groups of 3 until fewer than 3 are left. At home, ask how many wheels are on 12 bikes and how many sets of 4 can be made from 50 beads.
